This story reminds me of an incident in the late 80's when SAAB 9000 sold like hot cakes and my dad was in the market for a new car. The whole family entered the SAAB dealership and eventually my dad asked for a test drive. The dealer then explained that "This car belonged to our manager, he drove it a few times to his summer house and then he got bored of it, but it is newly washed so I don't want to let it out unless we have signed the papers" Great sales pitch!! Needless to say my dad didn't buy a SAAB. I wonder if that guy is still working at SAAB today, then he probably forces you to take a test drive (note: I wish SAAB all the best for the future)
It is really strange that this day and age there are car dealers that still behave like that, especially since it is not only the typical banker who earns the big money today. I am guessing that entering a Bentley or RR dealership in the US dressed in baggy clothes is an advantage.
I have yet to try the super-casual dress when entering the lounge, but I have not had any problem in a hoodie and jeans at least...
