The British Ambassador to Argentina and British Airways has invited me to attend a soiree at the British Embassy in Buenos Aires to celebrate 20 years of BA serving Argentina. How wonderful thought I and rushed to accept the invitation. ^
Only thing is they never stated a dress code and I don't know what to wear. Knowing there are posters here more au fait with such matters than myself I have come to ask for some advice on the subject. It will be held in the evening if that helps.
Digging about in my wardrobe I find.......
Dark grey suit bought years ago in Ciro Citterio in Glasgow. Still fits and looks as good as new.

Are tulip lapels still in fashion?
A light coloured creased linen jacket the wife made me buy on a visit to Cairo......might look good with a Panama hat?
Loads of jeans that don't really fit me anymore (too much asado) especially round the crotch area....the Ambassador is a Welsh lady so that might not be a good idea.
My old Boy Scout kilt.....now rather short in the leg and the wind can be quite strong coming off the Pampa.
A good selection of casual trousers and shirts from Debenhams along with some sleeveless jumpers.....or tank tops as they were called in the seventies.
Plenty of silk shirts and ties bought for less than a £1 each in the Bejing silk market.....only thing is I detest wearing ties.
Several pairs of cargo trousers...very comfy and the pockets might come in handy.
Thoughts?
