Well there is:
  • The management time to decide that's what they want to do
  • The approval process to raise an IT request and funding
  • Analysis of the code to find the part of the program "smoke" resides in, not to mention where the xx has been coded.
  • Testing
  • Change request for puting it live
  • Finally support staff on overnight when it goes live (just to make sure it does)
  • Final sign-off that it's worked, not to mention budget reconciliation etc for the money spent.

If you get change out of £3-4000 you'll be doing well. And if you think I'm joking, sadly I'm not

those little xx probably don't you enough ink for the payback to be within a reasonable time frame
