Agreed. My wife tripped the radiological sensors in PVG. The first time someone responded but their only objective seemed to be to find a reasonable explanation. They never did anything to determine what had tripped the sensor (she had carry-ons with her when the sensor went off) and she had left the card from the lab in the pocket of a jacket at home. (She changed jackets at the last minute.) No problem.

After customs the sensors went off again--and nobody even responded that time.

(Note that she went through two US airports, one at 8x as hot and one at 4x as hot and if she set off a sensor we didn't know anything of it.)
