Given the ownership of LiveTV, I wouldn't be shocked to see CO/UA revisit the inflight internet access issue around the same time JetBlue looks to roll-out inflight internet (which IIRC is in 2012 at the earliest) - particularly if the combined carrier plans on rolling out DirecTV seatback TV to the UA fleet.
I also wouldn't be shocked to hear that the take-up rate of inflight internet is low, especially since it's not what I'd call inexpensive (and, in my personal experience, somewhat buggy). I was on a US A321 back in June, on a PHX-PHL redeye, and Gogo STILL wanted $5 for access. I nearly bit the bullet, because I wanted to try and get some work done, but the system wasn't connecting to their payment server on the ground, so no dice.
