I've always been a fan of the IAD-LAX MR on United. UA 947 (roughly 5:30 p.m. departure) on the outbound, UA 946 (always around 7:45 a.m.) on the return the next day. Both int'l 777s, so with any status (or miles) a relatively easy upgrade to the C hard product, and regardless, it's a widebody.

For the past couple weeks, I've been seeing advance fares for the r/t at around $279 (I saw some at $230 a couple weeks ago, on last-minute e-fares). At 4,576 miles r/t, that's about 16.3 miles per dollar, which I'd say could be treated as a 30% discount on the trip.
