Hi -
I have gotten a general idea from this thread so thanks in advance for that, but
I was hoping to get a better idea because I don't do TATL very often and the last time I did I had 6 or 7 hours at IAD so I was not even remotely worried about times... Seems the consensus here is 2 hours but I'm being given about 1.5 for all of mine so i figured id ask...
In late january next year I need to do
1) LAX->IAD->FCO
and
2) FCO->IAD->LAX
now going there isn't too worry of an issue but given the time of year is an hour and a half connection to UA 966 going to be enough time, assuming bad weather or whatnot? (As I'm sure is obvious, I'm limited to UA here since I have SWUs I'd like to use on this)
The question is more about customs on return, I know UA has it's own at C/D and you do the connecting flights line and it's a quick turn... or relatively. I'm still not sure if I'll have to check a bag or not (let's assume for timing I do)... what is the minimum time I'll want for this?
Namely is UA 967 and it's associated connecting flight to LA enough time? (I know my sister actually missed this connection in the summer but was already protected onto the next flight to LA) but what about the hour and a half to 951? Or should I push myself back to four hours and UA 137?
(I suppose getting stuck in IAD on the way back, while not ideal is not terrible, I more have to make sure to get to FCO on time as opposed to returning to LAX precisely on time).
Ok many thanks sorry that was lots of text.
