The easiest transport is going to be from the airport itself. There are airport shuttles and the train. However, you might want to research where you want to go in downtown and what the shuttles and train cost (I think the train only goes to the train station and that is definitely not downtown).
I don't consider Seattle city center mass transit to be comparable, say, to San Francisco's transit.
You might be able to get a break on price in the University District. I think the mass transit (such as it is in Seattle) is pretty doable from there to downtown.
