Out of interest, what class of fare did they sell you originally and up to? I am guessing Q for the latter which is not mileage -eligible if sold in Europe for trans-Atlantic travel? (Actually, I just checked AA.com and you can't earn miles with Q fares for trans-Atlantic travel bought from anywhere). They even have a "subject to change without notice" clause now.

I'm sorry for your negative experience but it's best to rely on yourself and be up to date with all the mileage accumulation rulse.
