Standard rooms are tiny - 199 square feet - and the walls between guest rooms are paper thin, as I could certainly hear my neighbor's TV as well as chatter in the hallway. That said, it's a good use of category 4 redemption (like from MegaBonus) especially if you aren't planning on spending much time in your room.
I am just a lowly Silver, but 2pm checkout was like pulling teeth. They insisted on 1pm because my room had been blocked for another elite. I don't know why they can't juggle room blocking (especially because my room really isn't that desirable), because they weren't sold out.
But I had an issue with my door not locking (I learned my lesson: always check), which made me wait for security and maintenance before I could leave my room. Because I had been disserviced and mentioned that to them, they reluctantly agreed to a 2pm checkout but clearly were unhappy about giving it to me.
That said, late checkouts are never easy in Hawaii, especially when the lowest tier elite...
