I know this question ranks along side the 'when is the next BA sale' question for annoyance but I'd welcome a few opinions!

I'm flying on BA279 on 21/10 and BA268 on 28/10 in WT. I'd like to order a special meal (not a veggie but don't like meat and fish) however I know this means that any kind of op up will not happen. So my question is, how much chance would there be of an op up anyway? I've snagged a reasonable seat already (28G both ways) so should I just stick with this and order the special meal or go for a standard meal on the off chance and take plenty of my own food on board instead?
