Yes, we did. It was very easy, and just 10 euro for 2 people. We went into the middle of Syntagma Square, at the Parliament end. There is an elevator down to the ticketing floor. From there, we had escalators down to the train. We jumped on the first train that was headed the airport direction, but had to get off at a station down the line to wait another 20 minutes for one going all the way. The metro was immaculate, and very easy to take.
For those who are foodies, eat at Spondi, a Michelin two star restaurant. Fabulous. For foodies on a budget, go to the restaurant in the park about a 10 minute walk from the hotel recommended by the concierge. I'll try to find the credit card slip to get the name. Seating is outdoors with a glorious view of the Parthenon and Acropolis. Food is well priced, and with some small food gifts from the kitchen. The new Acropolis Museum also has a surprisingly good restaurant with table service. We sat outside for the view (not as good as from the Grande Bretagne, but still a pleasure.)
