Can one really remove the overwing exit on CRJ-200 sitting in the window seat?

I was looking at the overwing exit (row 8) on the Skywest CRJ-200 and the picture on how to open it. I really wonder if it is doable.

The front edge of the door is just off the back of the seat of row 7. There is proably a 4 inch space between the back edge of the door and the seatback of the exit seat on row 8 - that is less than a person's head.

The picture shows the person at the exit seat pulling the door inside then throwing it out. Since there is no room on the front, the person's head will be in the way.

I know in emergencies, miracles happen. However, I just don't see how this would work unless the person on the aisle seat moves out, the window-seat person slides over so his/her head does not get in the way...? I am not exactly the most coordinated person so I want to hear what others think...

Thanks.
