I emailed AA Customer Service and asked them to merge the accounts. They responded and said they would, but I'm wondering if I need to contact AT&T and Citibank to update my AAdvantage number. Does merging accounts take care of this?</font>
Yes, the way the CSR explained it to me that if any miles try to get posted to the old AAdvantage number, they get automatically posted to the number that it was merged into. I think CitiBank and AT&T are advised of this and they no longer post to the new AAdvantage number they incidentally created when opening your CitiBank or AT&T accounts.
