Advance passenger information for US
I'm rather confused by the new advanced passenger information regulations. I'm a british citizen, working in US on a J1 -- have been here a few years, so i'm a resident alien (i.e. pay taxes, all the rest of it).
Haven't flown overseas for a few months, but am doing so next week. My aa booking asked for new, enhanced passenger information -- I don't want to get into the rights or wrongs of that. It's just that I'm sl. confused. It asks for my country of residence (US). But since I'm not an american citizen, it then asks me to choose one of the following three options a) permanent resident b) resident alien c) neither. When I choose (b) -- it asks for my card number, which I clearly don't have -- so I have to then give a 'temporary' address in the US.
What's more, I don't even get that third option on my aa account page, I just have to leave it incomplete.
Given that the us government is more than happy to count me as a resident for tax purposes (and even tax my overseas income), I feel a little put out that I'm still just 'visiting'...and moreover, how should I be filling the information out?
