If you're lucky you might make it in 8 hours or so from Yogyakarta to Jakarta, but hit traffic or accidents anywhere along the way and that figure can blow out. The road between Yogyakarta and Bandung isn't that great, but from Bandung onwards the road is much better - just make sure not to hit Jakarta during rush hour else you'll be waiting a while!
