At the time it was a couple of quid extra for priority boarding, which allowed you to push your way through the masses queueing at the gate, then take a seat by the door facing back at the generally unamused crowd you'd just "skipped". There was always a bit of murmering and the odd comment. A few months of doing that and i made Mrs dm8 come to DUB for weekends. Never flown FR again.
I don't understand the concept of speedy boarding if you are alone flying FR. Why would you want to spend more time on their cramped plane? If you wait until the end, stroll on and then ask the first pair male / female who are obviously a couple if you can take the empty seat between them. 9 / 10 they will move up and you'll have the aisle seat.
