I had a very tight connection in PHX and had no choice but to gate check on the way there from SFO. So the extra 5 minutes waiting for the bag to come up was... stressful. I got to the next gate 1 minute after they closed the door...

Had I had the bag in the cabin (impossible on the CRJ, but you get the idea) I'd have made the connection normally saving those few minutes. (I actually got the m to let me on)
