Actually, that is wrong, in a statistical sense. LEO is actually, statistically, a *very* safe job (must better than truck driver, for example, and not even comparable to fire fighter (a truly dangerous job)).

People perceive LEO as dangerous because they are more frightended that a person might harm them intentionally than they are concerned that they might die (as a truck driver) in a traffic accident.
