I have no problem with these precautions -- many of them are implemented in Europe and Canada already (try visiting the Heathrow airside MLL without a BP or pass).

How many people really visit a MLL without a BP? If you plan on meeting someone and you are not flying then it is not such a big deal to do it somewhere else.
