number_6, this is the first I've read (as a reasonably attentive reader of this forum) of the two different kinds of 763 J seats. Do you remember other threads discussing this?
Any sense of how things got this way? Some planes use seats bought at one time, some later? Seems like AA would need a couple new rows of J for each 763 to be converted from three-class service to two-class. So I wouldn't have expected there would be any planes with entirely new J seats.
Any way to predict which kind of seats will be present? Same equipment designators in Galileo, I guess, and same seatmap? Wouldn't want to have to go by nose numbers -- what a pain, and not easy to predict in advance.
