Just started looking for xmas fares and boy, do they seem high.
Last week I booked London to Harrogate for 10 pounds one way for dec. 14th.
A week later on the 21st , London to leeds, goes up to 165 pounds o/w.

The best I've come up with is 40 pounds o/w.
Wait for the advance fares to be loaded - they will be lower than the off-peak fares. Keep checking back regularly to get the best fare possible as the cheapest tickets will go quickly at that time of year.
