That's what UA tends to do (though they may have held it if there were a call from the gate).
UA has been so fixated on their #1 ON TIME ranking that I haven't seen them hold a flight in years. CO is more likely to take a delay for connections. That said, CO is not as good at rebooking in IRROPS, so maybe that's why.
