A couple other thoughts about this: LAS-MKE WGA fares are currently run $104 to $301. The walk-up fare is $400. How many passengers were covered by the $200? How much was originally paid for the airfare portion of the vacation package?
I ask because I noticed this provision in the SWA CoC (emphasis added):
When a Passenger loses his paper Ticket or a portion of his paper Ticket, the Passenger will be required to purchase another Ticket, at the fare at which the Ticket or portion thereof was originally purchased...
The $200 cost mentioned seems low for one walk-up fare, possibly high for one WGA fare (though seasonality, day of week, how far in advance purchased, etc., would have a large impact). Based on some comments I've read I'm wondering how the airport agents would know the amount paid for a
paper ticket. I'm also thinking this is a rare enough situation that many agents, not to mention pax, might not know all the nuances of the rules. An overcharge situation is easy to imagine. Otherwise, still not much hope for cost recovery.
ETA: Forgot to mention the other thought. The customer could do a funds lookup on the old PNR. With SWA IT, one just never knows whether the programming matches the rules or not.
