would prefer Star Alliance lounge is Istanbul Ataturk to improve
I was in Istanbul late May. On exit I used the Star Alliance lounge. It;s very near the Millenium and HSBC Advantage lounges.
Unfortunately I was not very impressed with the state of the Star Alliance lounge (which presumably is also the Turkish Airlines lounge). Sofas with stuffing coming out, no support left in them, an overall air of desperately needing modernization, very crowded (and I was not traveling at a particularly peak time - I had made a point of not doing so). The service was excellent replenishing food and drink, very helpful nice service which was the only nice spot. Adjacent bathroom facilities had clearly been improved only recently, but were really only barely acceptable although pretty well maintained. I expect to have to transit through Istanbul on further occasions in the next few years. Next time I'm going to try the HSBC Advantage lounge. From the outide, it lokoed the best. And I'll be happy to pay for it. If the Millenium lounge has any connection with the one in Singapore then this was quite acceptable, so if I have not yet found my lounge home when I visit the HSBC lounge next time, I will try the Millenium on the following trip. I'd rather pay for either of these two lounges next time than brave the seriouly unsuitable and inadequate seating and overcrowding in the Star Alliance lounge even though that one is free to me.
If someone else knows more about these other paid lounges, or perhaps about general conditions and lounges at Sabiya Gokhen(?) the other Istanbul airport, then I'd be very interested if you are able to post. Many thanks in advance to any hints or advice.
