Where I live in Vancouver, Canada, many still subscribe to basic cable which is $37 CAD per month. Basic HD cable is $63 CAD per month - so that's another $350 per year after taxes for HD. More money than many would like to spend.

There are 4 OTA HD channels in Vancouver (CBC / CTV / Global / CityTV) but the hilly topography of the city makes reception hit and miss.
