I never take exit row seats.
I always take whatever is closest to the front of the plane because the US immigration folk hold me for 2-3 hours every time I land (I was born in the middle east). My main motive is to get out of the plane and through customs asap.
On CO's 737 & 757 aircraft, where the exit rows are mid-plane, I often choose the second row of coach over an exit row b/c I would prefer to get off the plane sooner in order to retrieve my bag, reach my hotel, get home, make a connecting flight, etc.
