The hard way? I guess it's a matter of perspective. It would be much easier for me if my company paid for my status, like his does!
I haven't been on a business trip for over 2 years now. All my status levels (which include UA1K and Hyatt Diamond) were obtained 100% on my own dime. So what if I have to game the system a bit to get there.
Just tell him that the important thing is not how you get to the promised land, but that you arrive!
