hahahahaha
well, I said to him:
sure, your company sends you to say, the W hotel in xyz city which would be about $400 a night. But YOU don't pay it, the company does! If you lose that job, what are you then? You are but a baby who parachutes from a plane into a forest, I say! For he knows nothing of the creative ways to earn miles when you have to. (it's not even work for me. It's a passion!)
He is an exec at a software company btw... he goes on many trips and that's pretty much the only way he earns both status and miles. I got to lifetime Gold on AA without stepping foot on one of their planes in over 5 years! Nobody paid me to fly anyplace and I got no perks from no boss doing my work.
And ok, maybe his company puts the employees into nice hotels so they maintain an image and they feel nicer when doing the work that they needed to be sent out to do, but guess who pays that bill! Yup, you and I do. I mean, why cant he say, hey boss, I can still do my job but staying at the best Western down the street is fine and it will save the company $350 a night! Why, we could pass this savings onto our customers and blah blah blah.
