Had one of these on Thursday using one of the tranborder machines. Thought it might be a means of identifying domestic versus transborder, but not so. Seems this is a new way to ensure agents check for ticket coupons, upgrades and anything else, since others using "human" check-in positions would have had all these done by the agent. Awaiting flight to ORD after our TPE long weekend. Will have some interesting observations about AA's back cabin when I file a more complete report.
