Hi Travelers,
As business traveler I am constantly in hotels. For vacations I want to spend my time in a "nicer" environment. I don't need the the infrastructure of a hotel, but rather spend my money on a nice apartment with some space, kitchen etc.
Especially in Europe hotel rooms are often rather small and during our last vacation we got fed up with the hotel room. We apprciate a nice place to hang out, also when the weather is not good (or our mood). And a hotel lobby or bar is not the place that we have in mind. My questions:

How is your experience with renting houses (fincas), flats etc abroad?
What kind of website has good offers with valid (true) description of the homes?
Do you have insight on how to avoid or detect scams, or is this rather uncommon.
