Apologies as I expect already covered.
Currently BA Silver. Purchased on BA's site this week a return to Frankfurt from Manchester (code share BA with Flybe). Paid more on BA site Vs Flybe as I wanted to use the lounge. In Frankfurt advised couldn't access the lounge.
Explanation from BA is "…..I would like to inform you that the lounge at Frankfurt airport is a third party lounge and Silver Executive Club members do not have access to that lounge." Is this correct?
Yes and no. The reference to Silver cards is a red herring.
When you buy a codeshare using the BA flight code, you are not buying into any benefits except TPs and miles.
But no other benefits - no lounge access, no fasttrack, no seating, unless provided by the operating carrier, or unless there is a specific agreement between the operating carrier and BA (eg the BA-EI Lounge policy or BA-BE checked baggage policy). You would have to refer to BE's lounge access policy to determine whether lounge access is given on certain BA coded booking classes.
I assume the reference to the Silver card was meant to be a reference to the Goldcardholder's entitlement to use BA Lounges regardless of who you are flying with, which - as the letter indiactes - wouldn't apply at FRA anyway since it is not a BA-owned/operated Lounge.
