General visitor document requirements for non-visa nationals

Hi,

I will soon have a visitor arriving at Heathrow terminal 4 from central america. A visa is not needed for visitors from her home country but the normal arrival interview at the border would be required, obviously.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/vi...ors/documents/ lists the kinds of things she should present on arrival.

Does anyone have experience in a this situation? How heavily do they check and enforce the necessity of documents on that page?

She could provide evidence of departure flight, and evidence (in Spanish) that she's a student and has a job, both in her home country.

My concern is about the bank statements and savings; she would only be able to show evidence of about US$300 worth of savings - i.e. really not much, considering a visit to the UK.

I would be supporting her financially during her stay, so I suppose she could provide my recent bank statements and evidence of savings (which would be a sufficiently large figure).

Any hints/tips/experiences appreciated.

cheers
