This is a "what if" question

If someone with no UA status books a cheap coach flight on UAL.com and wants to get UA miles , can he still use his Gold car from another Star member ?

Can he just show the other Gold card to get the free extra bag and maybe E-plus seating but have the miles posted in his UAL FF account

and would it matter if it was a domestic or international flight
