I, too, have stayed in both regular rooms in the lodge and cottage rooms. While the size is roughly the same, I did feel that the cottages seem a little more special, like you're not just in a generic hotel room somewhere. Depending on the location of the cottage, they are also more convenient to the swimming pool and spa, although the property overall is small enough that walking from place to place isn't too big of a deal.

The one piece of advice I always offer folks staying here is to make sure that you eat at the on-site restaurant, Carneros, for both breakfast and dinner at least once. With so many wonderful restauarants around it can be tempting to skip "the hotel restaurant", but in this case it is truly excellent. So good, in fact, that locals actually eat there (which tells you something)!
