US import duty/tax on jewellry?
I've been doing a lot of searching on cbp.gov but I've come away more confused than before!

In a nutshell, I will be bringing a diamond ring purchased in the UK into the USA where it will remain (hopefully on my girlfriends finger!). I'm an Irish national travelling under a visa waiver if that makes any difference.

I'm trying to work out how much duty I will have to pay on it. It's worth the equivalent of a few thousand dollars so the rate is fairly significant. Will I also have to pay tax on top of the duty?
