imagine he's referring to a narrow body plane with one aisle.
I've always thought "Barbie jet" was a reference to regional jets, not 737/A32x/757/Mad Dogs (though the Embraers look nice).
Anyways, it's an RJ (UX CR7 flown by SkyWest). SEA-LAX no longer rates mainline from UA. Plus it would be Y (though I'll have CO Gold, so I
may get E+, though I think I'll have to ask at the airport, by which time there may not be any E+). XF inventory is VERY hard to come by when you only have 6 F seats.
The benefit of OZ, SQ, or NH F is quickly diminished when the feeder flight is late into SFO and you have to wait a day for another flight.
Yeah, that's my worry. This trip actually combines a US North America-North Asia F award (that gets me to HKG and Germany) and a CO intra-South Asia J award (that gets me to DPS and BKK from HKG). While I've built in lots of time in HKG bracketing the DPS/BKK trip and CO is much better about changing awards than US is, I'd like to be reasonably fresh and ready to go see the sights my first full day in HKG... and I figure if I leave SEA midafternoon and get a couple hours nap at some point on the plane, I'll be in decent shape for late night arrival in HKG. It will just seem like a
very long day. I'm not sure the same can be said for having to get up oh-dark-hundred for an early morning departure from SEA to SFO/LAX, and 24-ish hours of flying/lounge time.
Thanks for the feedback, folks. Besides, I figure I'll get into an OZ/SQ/NH/TG F cabin some other time.
ETA: of course, the F availability SEA-NRT went away before I could nab it. Oh well. He who hesitates...
