Last time I stayed, I complained about this to the IT people who after much beating claimed that they were going to increase the speed of the internet in my room. I didnt notice any difference pre- versus post- their alleged intervention. They gave all the usual excuses "Could be a lot of people on at the same time, it's a shared connection, etc". Well, they have to think of that when they buy their bandwidth, and buy enough bandwidth so it doesnt get slow. Imagine if the electricity or water went out, could they get away with an excuse like that.

... They said that they had recently changed internet service providers and that perhaps the problems related to that.
