I asked that she be seated elsewhere but they said she would be calmer seated next to a woman, asking my husband to move. Eventually she calmed after howling in my ear for about 30mins.
We complained about the situation when we arrived DXH before our onward flight to MEL, and for some unknown reason the crew member changed our seats from J to the emergency exit in Y and gave us new boarding passes. We complained, not only about the downgrade but I was still on crutches and shouldn't have been seated there. We then had our boarding passes changed to middle row seat in Y saying our original seats weren't available and J was now full, also we couldn't escalate it as it was a Friday.
Had no choice but to sit in those seats, was told to hang my foot over the edge by the CC who then continually hit it with trolleys-rebreaking it.

Took 90 days to get a reply, a letter that said that all the EK staff were only trying to help and was compensated with a 1 leg upgrade. The upgrade was worth much less than the surgery I had to have to have the shattered bone shards removed and pins put in.
Wow. You should have just stood your ground and refused to take the seats in Y, like in that other thread on stolen seats!
