I'd heard all sorts of horror stories about US domestic airlines before I moved here and have actually been pleasantly suprised. I've flown AA first a couple of times recently (paid as part of a trip to Central America) and UA a few times as well (upgraded courtesy of Mrs Schmidt's status at UA) and both products are well ahead of any of the European legacy carriers' intra-Europe C-Class. Indeed I had the joys of LH C-class from FRA-LHR last week for the first time in years which was very average.
