Restaurant and other recommendations in Raleigh, NC

I'm doing another mileage run through RDU, but spending a little time there this time.

I arrive on Sat Oct 2 around 11am and leave the same day at 3:40. Flying in/out on US, through PHL, and I am planning to rent a car.

I'd like to get out to a non-chain restaurant, the best would be something with a patio where I could hopefully sit outside (weather permitting) and relax for a bit. So far I've been given suggestions for these--

The Mint Restaurant
The Raleigh Times

I was also given a suggestion to The Pitt, but I don't eat pork or beef, and the menu looked very limited for me.
I do eat chicken, turkey, duck, and nearly any seafood...plus nearly anything else. Generally I try to eat healthy, but on a mileage run that mostly goes out the window.

I don't have a preference to go into Raleigh, or anywhere else within ~30 min of RDU.

Any suggestions for a restaurant, coffee shop, or a street to just walk along and browse?

Also, what is a good local gift to bring back from that area for my SO? Last time I picked up some, "Carolina Peanuts," at RDU.

Thanks for any ideas.
