My spend excluding taxes (and tips) was 88.05 GBP. The pre-tax room rate was 74.90, and the total 107.00.
88.05 x 1.546 x 10 = 1158, apparently by fiat, because no attempt at calculation has been shown.
Apparently every hotel chain has their own foriegn exchange formula.
I assume that when they calculate your spending some hotels system will take out the commission charge which range between 8% to 12% upto where you book your rooms.
So your bill will be divided to two parts:
1>, Commissionable room rate of 74.90
2>, Non-commissionable bar charge of 13.15
If your room rate including breakfast, some hotels will take that part off as well considering it as discounted non-commisionable rate (if that makes sence to you).
So I would not argu the part of base points given. It seems reasonable to me. And every single points I got rewarded from various programme, would always not exactly match my spending for variouse reasons. As long as it is not too far away i would not complain.
But I do have my sympathy on you for Hilton's lack of customer service and their ignorance of not reward the correct Airline miles.
