I do pay for it, and quite often, but only for the TP as flying with work has dried up over the last couple of years.
And I think that reason is EXACTLY why we cannot expect too much in terms of investment or improvement in CE.
CE does afford a wider seat and nobody next to you on most services.
The seats are (generally) appropriate to the sub-two hour sectors, less so for the longer sectors.
The real plus is the lounges and the food offering on board which is generally very good on sorter sectors (though more along the lines of a salad rather than a full meal).
Using CE on longer sectors, and especially on one of the two the clunking 767s is about the worst possible experience of CE you could engineer; but trust me CE is usually a LOT better on shorter hops.
