A lot may come down to cultural differences, but I'm not sure I could ever describe domestic F meals on AA better than BA on CE.
On AA it's invariably pasta or a red meat dish, followed by ice cream or a cookie... I typically pass or just eat the small salad. And the presentation, although not as important, is quite basic. Those dated glass dishes and that dark nylon tablecloth and napkin. It's essentially an economy transatlantic meal from the 80s.
On BA the quality has deteriorated a bit, but still offers better variety/quality. As others mention you always get something on BA. I quite like the afternoon tea, the extended breakfast less so...
