I know it's not AA, or Oneworld for that matter, but the most direct routing is China Southern, with 3 nonstops per week from L.A. to Guangzhou. They offer a premium economy class and it was on sale for under $1000 roundtrip recently. I don't know the dates for the sale, and have never personally flown them. They operate 777 aircraft on this route. For ease of travel, and since you can't use VIPOWs anyway, it's worth a look.
