I want to fly from Vancouver to Edmonton and bring along a selection of local micro-brew for my beer loving friend to try. Can I just check a well padded/secured box with liters of beer inside? Was just going to mail it or ship it on greyhound but both of them forbid any types of "intoxicating beverages" regardless of alcohol content.

It's only beer, not scotch or more potent hard liquor. And it will be well padded to prevent breakage. I just dont want to have to leave it at the check in counter...that would be heartbreaking.
