Is this a new EI policy, a once-ff due to cargo weight issue or just more evidence of EI still being a low-service airline?
I saw this on an EI A321 the other week, a very quiet flight on a Saturday evening had only about 25 pax so we were all told to stay in our allocated seats because of trim. Rows 1-6 were blocked off. I don't think anyone cared since we could all have had an entire row of six to ourselves after takeoff and you could have been in row 15 and still been the third person off the plane! Incidentally, we parked on a remote stand at DUB and walked to the terminal and then along the entire length of the (new?) pier; combined with the 'green mile' at LHR I'd say I got some much-needed exercise.

Not sure why trim requirements are "Ryanair-ish". Nor would I agree that EI is always a "low-service airline" - I've had some bad moments but the crew on that particular flight were great.
