Here's why we're trying something different: Seat blocks interfere with Self-Service Check-in and Online Check-in in that they often force customers to see an agent to unblock a seat so that it can be assigned. The reality is that with reduced schedules and fuller flights, more and more seats are having to be unblocked. Since customers tell us they like our enhanced check-in technologies, we want to do everything possible to remove obstacles to their effective use. Changing our seat blocking practices was a quick way to address the problem.
