Hi, couple of newbie questions here. I am a Plat with AA. Recently I got some mass mailing saying that Plats can get complimentary upgrades when flying on B and Y fares.

1. Does this apply to international tickets as well or just to domestic travel?
2. I am flying to ZRH in a few weeks, which route should I take to maximize my chance to either take advantage of the complimentary upgrade or maximize my chance of an operational upgrade? When I recently checked, based on my travel dates the lowest fares are BEE. The routes I am thinking of are ORD-BRU-ZRH, ORD-LGA-JFK-ZRH, ORD-DFW-ZRH, ORD-CDG-ZRH.
