Air Tahiti Nui is another option. I've been researching a one way student ticket from the US to AKL via PPT....departures are on Fridays from LAX and require an overnight in Tahiti...quel horreur!

Otherwise, Malaysian flies to AKL, and China Southern will start in November. Korean, already mentioned, is your other choice, apart from booking an award ticket to Australia and then buying a trans-Tasman flight (which appear to quite cheap due to the competition).
